Here are the tribes allowed in VDN.
1. Black Furies: These ferociuos defenders of the Wyld call Greece their homeland, though they have established a strong presence in North America over the last two centuries. This tribe, composed of almost entirely of female Garou, is renowned for its members honor, ferocity and attunement to the sacred. The Furies claim that Luna, in her aspect as Artemis the Huntress, created their tribe from she-wolves and appointed them to be protectors of the Wyld, defenders of Woman, and punhishers of Men. They uphold these duties with grim determination. Male Garou born to the Black Furies are usually given to the Children of Gaia.
2. Bone Gnawer: Most Garou see the Bone Gnawers as the dregs of the Garou, pathetic scavengers living in the humans filth, but the Bone Gnawers know that survival takes precedence over manners. Living off the scraps of society, this tribe endures the contempt of most Garou. Where the others have faltered, the Gnawers have prospered. Of all the tribes, the Bone Gnawers may be the most numerous. These hardy mongrels trace their pedigrees to India and Africa. Possibly descended from jackal stock, the Gnawers have spread throughout human civilization and have an uncanny knack for knowing just who is doing what to whom. Few secrets stay hidden for long if a Bone Gnawer is in the neighborhood.
3. Children of Gaia: When the Wyrm claimed the hearts of the Garou, when the blood of the tribes was shed by the claws of their kin, the Children of Gaia arose to lead the Garou back to the Mothers bounty. They lifted the Impergium, pressed for peace among the tribes and spread the words of Gaias love among the lands of humans. To the Children of Gaia, life is a gift to be savored, not a battle to be won. They are the unifiers of the Garou, the heralds of peace.
4. Fianna: Much of the Garou language and lore was created and recorded by the Celtic tribe known as the Fianna. Originally hailing from Ireland and the British Isles, this tribe is most renowned for its lore masters, singers and bards. Nonetheless, tribes such as the Get of Fenris have learned to their chagrin that Fianna warriors are by no means ineffective. Fianna come from all backgrounds and as a result have the fewest intra-tribal rivalries between lupus and homid members. The Fianna's Celtic Kinfolk saw shape shifting as perfectly natural. Metis, however, are very poorly treated by the tribe; the Fianna believe that impurity of body is a curse, and metis may never hold positions of power in the tribe.
5. Get of Fenris Many Garou consider the savage Get of Fenris to be the tactical nukes of Gaia. Violent and remorseless, the Get embrace the warrior ideals of the ancient Norse and yearn for a place in Valhalla. The stereotypical Get is a blood-drenched, raging monster; the tribes ferocity is legendary, even among the Garou. Rare is the Get who backs down from a fight; rarer still is the Get who shows mercy. To the Get of Fenris, strength is the greatest gift.
6. Glass Walkers: These are the most human of the Garou. They have adapted to the cities, and are strong in them. Many Garou would say that they are being corrupted, and that they have lost their wolf nature. Glass Walkers think that they are the next step of evolution for the Garou. They are the only Garou that have anything to do with influencing companies to be more "green" aware. They tend to have the most anal retentive moots of all the tribes.
7. Red Talons: The only predominantly Lupus tribe, they will still occasionally hunt humans for sport. The Talons strongly resent Homid Garou, and seldom permit anyone of human birth into their septs. Because the habitat of the wolves is shrinking, most Garou suspect the talons days are numbered.
8. Shadow Lords: These are the Elite that remain apart from Garou society, waiting for their chance to take over leadership from the Silver Fangs. Politics, planning, scheming, and backstabbing are normal for them. Trust in them should be inversely proportional to the number of them in the area.
9. Silent Striders The Silent Striders are nomads driven out of Egypt long ago by Vampires. They now travel this world, as well as others. They are aware like none other to signs and omens.
10. Silver Fangs As far back as Garou legends can reach, the boldest, strongest, and wisest of the Garou have been Silver Fangs. Today they are the very proud Leaders of the Garou (but slightly inbred). Fierce and Regal, the Silver Fangs tolerate very little in the way of dissension.
11. Star Gazers Eastern Mystics of the Garou usually see as wise guys. Their tribe is the smallest of the 13. Stargazers spend much of their time in contemplation in dark and lonely places. Their self appointed mission is to protect the weak from the evil corruption of the Wyrm.
12. Uktena Mostly native American, these Garou are now spread world wide in search of knowledge. No other tribe knows more about the ways of spirits then the Ukenta. Their moots are closed to outsiders and are filled with dark ominous secret rites. Some Garou suspect that they are already on the path to corruption.
13. Wendigo Last of the Pure Native American tribe, they have not yet integrated well with the rest of the Garou. They resent all other Garou for taking the Americas from the natives. They can only claim the Uktena as friends, and the best of the other tribes are treated in a cold manner.
The Lost Tribes
1. Bunyip The Bunyip were slain by the other Garou. Feared for their differences because they were not born of wolves, but of the thylacines, the tasmanian wolves. Their ghosts supposedly haunt the Australian umbra making it a treacherous place for any Garou to travel. Their totem was Rainbow Serpent and she too has dissappeared from the Garou pantheon of spirits. - Don't even ask to play one.
2. Croatan The Croatan sacrificed themselves to stop the Eater-of-Souls from manifesting itself in the New World after some Black Spiral Dancers and corrupt humans brought it to the New World among the first settlers in America. Their totem Turtle has dissappeared from the Garou pantheon of spirits. -Don't even ask to play one.
3. White Howlers White Howlers are dead and gone, converted one and all into the Black Spiral Dancers before the fall of Rome. If you cleanse a Black Spiral Dancer it will not become a White Howler. The spiritual power of the Tribe has been lost forever. Their totem was Lion. -Currently there is one in the room and no more will be approved unless some very special circumstances occur.
The Fallen
1. Black Spiral Dancers. They are among the Wyrm's most enthusiastic and aggressive agents in the physical world, using tactics of ecological terrorism, spiritual warfare, and outright violence. Their weak point, however, is their own degree of corruption. Many Black Spiral Dancers are self-destructively insane, while others are so unstable that they are put down by their hivemates. Similarly, the Black Spiral Dancers (having no rules relating to procreation) have a disproportionately large metis population, and have their bodies further riddled with deformities caused by the taint of the Wyrm. As a result, they often seek out young Garou still of Gaia and attempt to convert them into Black Spiral Dancers. These Gaian Garou are usually saner then most Black Spirals, but the majority of them are driven mad by the mad revelations they experience through the initiation process, where a Garou dances a facsimile of the Black Spiral Labyrinth located in the Umbral Realm of Malfeas. - Only allowed under special circumstances.
