Okay here is a bit of info on Gen. Well more like what is acceptable in VDN. Obviously the higher the number, the younger or less potent the blood is in the vampire.
14th gen - weak blood, had flaws, can not reproduce other vampires.
13th-10th Gen - perfectly acceptable. Neonates, to Ancillae.
9th Gen - Definantly an Ancillae, must have things to support the gen, and a history to support it. Must explain why you were chosen to be embraced.
8th Gen - Ancillae, verge Elder. MUST have very good history, including information about who and what your sire is. And why you were embraced.
Anything 7th or lower, only admin may play, or must have Cyn's approval. However this is highly doubtful because they are rare. And keep in mind, Elders generally aren't seen because they handle thing from behind the scenes. There usually is no reason to be this low of gen.
Terms : (as far as vdn goes) Neonate : Young vampire. Either of a high Gen, or not having been a kindred for to long. 11th-14th Gen. 1 to 100 years (give or take)
Ancillae : Middle ground. Earned more respect. 10th-8th gen. 100-400ish years.
Elder- 7th or lower. Respected, and uncommon. No longer have the childishness of younger vamps, other wise they'd be fucking dead by now. They is old, duh, the term elder.
